Go permanent part time or casual. That way your employer only has to pay workers comp. Not sure on the super thing though on casual.
And there lies the problem for every employer of small businesses in Australia. Running their businesses by a few dollars and then the big bad government comes in and tells them they have to give employees everything and the kitchen sink. the very reason why so many are currently running illegally - so they can stay afloat. And small businesses make up 80% of the Ozzie economy. Poor bastards. We are but a piece of one huge puzzle,....recognise it

It's got worse. The ATO are about to become involved- they want superannuation. Therefore we'll be considered employees by everybody and I know the business will not be able to afford sick leave, pay roll tax, maternity leave, holiday loading, etc.
If all that gets taken out of my earnings it's not worth working. Why would anyone want to run a small business or be self-employed?
I need advice. Can anyone help me out or recommend someone?

Hmm. I don't get it.
Are we talking about Workers' Compensation Insurance or WorkCover? I thought WorkCover only collected monies by going into workplaces and finding reasons to fine the business owners.
Workers' Comp insurance being an 'insurance' to cover people who are injured while at work ...
Help me out here ? I love to doubt as well as know.

Work Cover won't tell you of your other benefits as an employee as they only govern that section - getting money out of every persons wage for their coffers. They have no authority on the other matters. Doesn't mean you aren't eligible to them - you are. Hence, I would make a decision as to what you want to be. Employee, contractor, rentor, casual, permanent casual, etc. There are pro's and cons for each but at the moment you seem to be caught in the middle of no where. Your 'employer' probably is confused and frustrated to what to do with you with regard to paying you decent money but making you a profitable entity to make their business longevity sustainable. keep it simple stupid
